After the party, all that remains are the images and the memories. Choosing your photographer and videographer is one of the choices that matter most — and yet one we often make too quickly.

Photographer, videographer, or both?

Photos freeze the moment, video restores the atmosphere, the sound, the speeches and the music. Many couples take both; others choose according to their priority. If you hire two professionals, check that they work together without getting in each other’s way.

Selection criteria

• The style: natural and reportage, posed and artistic, or a mix. Look at complete weddings, not just a selection.
• Experience with Moroccan weddings: traditional moments, outfit changes and entrances need anticipation.
• The equipment: good lighting in a dark hall, second camera body, batteries and backups.
• The deliverables: number of retouched photos, delivery time, album, film length, delivery format.
• The contract: hours, length of presence, conditions in case of unavailability.

Prepare a shot list

Hand over in advance a list of the important moments (henna, preparations, entrance, procession, outfits, meal, cake, dancing, family photos) and of the people not to forget. Indicate the photo session locations. For family photos, designate someone who knows everyone to gather the groups.

The drone

An aerial view of a garden, a villa or a terrace facing the sea is spectacular. It requires compliance with the regulations in force; check them and make sure with your supplier that they are compliant and that the venue allows it.

Light and venue

The photographer needs decent lighting and room to move. Warn them of the venue’s constraints: dark hall, backlight, tight space. And give them time to shoot the couple’s portrait, preferably in evening light.
